Keys and Departure
Your keys include a key for the black metal front door, a key for the wood front door and one key that works for the back door to the pool area, both bedrooms and the guest bathroom. When leaving the house we recommend that you lock all doors, not just the front door.
Note that the black metal front door locks automatically when you pull it closed - always make sure that you have your keys with you first!
On departure please make sure that all doors are locked. Then just leave your keys on the dining table and pull the black metal/glass front door behind you and it will automatically lock.
Trash
There is no recycling in Mérida, everything goes into the one bag. When full, please seal off the bag and place it outside the front door on the sidewalk any day from Monday - Friday and it will be picked up. There are extra trash bags under the kitchen sink.
TV
There is a 55” Samsung Frame TV in the living room. It has apps for Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney. Although depending on where you are from some of those accounts may not be accessible in Mexico.
Air Conditioning
There are fans in every room and AC in the living room and both bedrooms. The AC in the living room is strong enough to also cool the kitchen and dining areas if all doors remain closed. Please turn off AC units when you are not at the house.
Noise
Please no loud noise outside and no amplified music outside or on the terrace. Noise travels easily in Centro and we need to be considerate of our neighbors.
Drinking Water
Water in Mexico isn’t safe to drink and we recommend that you use the provided bottled water, including for brushing teeth. If the large water bottle supply is running low please message the management team to request more.
Hot water
Mérida’s water has a high calcium level that plays havoc with the plumbing. For that reason hot water may take longer to come than you are used to. Turn on the hot faucet and wait a couple minutes and you should have hot water. We recommend not using both showers at once as that may further slow delivery of hot water.
Kitchen
Dishwasher - there are dishwasher pods under the sink. Place one in the receptacle in the door and then select a program. NORMAL setting is usually sufficient to clean plates and glassware. Note that there is a rack at the top of the dishwasher for silverware.
Coffee - we supply you with fresh coffee grounds to get you started and there is a coffee grinder.
Ice - the ice in the freezer is made with purified water and is safe to drink.
Kitchen Lighting - if you are cooking there is a switch under the rim of the campana (the hood over the stove) that turns on a light over the oven. There is also a switch at the right side of the kitchen counter that turns on lights under the kitchen shelves.
Pool
The pool is cleaned twice a week. The filter pump is set on a timer.
Please do not drink from glass containers while in the pool. Also please do not swim with tanning lotion on.
Heating - Heating is available for an additional cost of US $30 per day. Please contact Geoff if you would like to have the pool heated during your stay. It’s an electric heater and takes about 18 hours to bring the temperature from cold to a comfortable warmth.
If you would like the waterfall or pool light on there are switches outside, next to the door to the main house.
Upstairs Terrace
Stairs - The stairs to the terrace are steep, please be careful, especially with young children.
BBQ - There is a gas grill on the roof and there are BBQ tools in one of the kitchen drawers.
Cushions - When the weather is good with no rain, the management team will put out the cushions for the terrace seating area. If there is rain the cushions will be stored in the upstairs bathroom. If you have the cushions out and it starts raining we would greatly appreciate it if you could store them away until things are dry again.
Terrace Lighting - There is a light switch at the top of the stairs for the lights under the big planter and the pendants under the pergola. Additional light switches in the bathroom light under the seating and also light a wall of the neighboring hacienda.
Laundry
The washer and dryer are behind the black metal doors in the utility closet at the base of the terrace stairs. The lint trap in the dryer doesn’t fit well, please make sure that it’s in place before and after you dry a load.
There should be a bottle of laundry detergent in the utility room for you to use, please contact management if it’s missing or if its levels are low.
Parking
Parking Space - There is a complimentary covered parking space in a nearby lot for you to use. Let management know if you would like to use it and they will give you a key and directions. It’s open Mon-Fri from 9am - 4pm. Outside of those times you will need to use the key provided to open the padlock on the front gate. Please make sure that you lock the gate again behind you.
The name and address of the parking lot is:
Estacionamiento 49
Calle 49 #488 between Calles 54 and 56
Parking spot number is 56 and there is a Casa Wayib sign at the space to direct you
Street Parking - You will see some street parking around our area. On C.55 just east of us and also along Calles 52 and 54. Just be careful and follow signs as they do tow. If you are towed, go to the police station around the corner on Calle 57.

A good selection of wine and spirits, similar to their inventory in the US
Walmart

A selection of wine and spirits. We are not big fans of their wine selection but it’s OK in a pinch!
Massage
Keith Fremon is an excellent massage therapist who will come to Casa Wayib with his table. It’s a fairly firm massage! If he is not available when you need a massage he will connect you with one of his associates. Keith is American and bilingual. Rates are very reasonable by US standards.

Coqui Coqui up the street has a beautiful spa in the rear of the boutique. The massage is lighter here than Keith provides.
